Use the Language menu to bring up a dialog box for configuring your spell check and Thesaurus options.

 

This screen is where you configure your spell check and Thesaurus settings. These are stored between sessions for your convenience. The Exam Engine Question Editor uses the ComponentOne Spell™ for .NET control. You might check the componentone.com web site for advanced questions about these settings. Description

Main Dictionary File

The name of the main dictionary file. No path is necessary unless in a location other than the \spell subdirectory. To edit the dictionary (or create a custom one), use the Maintain Dictionary application to dump it to a text file. You can then edit it and use the same utility to compress it into a dictionary again. The default language is American English (C1SP_AE.DCT), but other languages are available.

Main Thesaurus File

The name of the main Thesaurus file. No path is necessary unless in a location other than the \spell subdirectory. To edit the Thesaurus (or create a custom one), use the Maintain Thesaurus application to dump it to a text file. You can then edit it and use the same utility to compress it into a Thesaurus again. Only an American English (c1th_ae.the) Thesaurus is available.

Check Spelling as You Type

Check to flag misspelled words as you type them and provide a right-click menu of suggestions.

Automatically Fix Spelling Errors

Check to automatically fix misspelled words.

Ignore Words in Mixed Case

Check to ignore words that are a mix of lower and upper case when spell checking.

Ignore Words in UPPERCASE

Check to ignore uppercase words when spell checking.

Ignore Words with Numbers

Check to ignore words containing numbers when spell checking.

Display Suggestions

Check to display suggestions for misspelled words.

Automatically Add Changed Words to Custom Dictionary

Check to automatically add changed words to the current custom dictionary. Changed words cannot be added to the main dictionary.

Underline Color

The color to underline misspelled words when the Typing Error Action is BeepAndUnderline or Underline. Click on the rectangle to display a popup menu that allows you to use a standard Color Dialog, a Color Editor that accepts both RGB (Red, Green, Blue) and Hex format, or set the color to Transparent.

Spelling Correction Dialog Language

Select the language of the spelling correction dialog box. The choices are DutchDialog, EnglishDialog, FrenchDialog, GermanDialog, NoDialog, and SpanishDialog.

Common Word Cache

Select which cache of common words (a, an, the, etc.) to use. The choices are EnglishCommonCache, NoCommonCache, and SpanishCommonCache.

Typing Error Action

Select the way to flag misspelled words (if checking spelling as you type). The choices are Beep, BeepAndUnderline, NoAction, and Underline.

Underline Style

Select the type of underline when using an underline action for misspelled words. The choices are ULNone, ULInvert, ULSingle, ULDouble, and ULWiggly.

Thesaurus Dialog Language

Select the language of the Thesaurus dialog box. The choices are EnglishDialog

FrenchDialog, GermanDialog, NoDialog, and SpanishDialog.

Custom Dictionaries

Use the Add or Delete buttons to configure the custom dictionaries used. You must have a custom dictionary in order to add words. If you have more than one custom dictionary, select the one in the list that will be added to when the user clicks the Add button on the Spelling dialog.

Maintain Dictionary

Click this button to run the Dictionary Maintenance Utility.

Maintain Thesaurus

Click this button to run the Thesaurus Maintenance Utility.
